On the 10th and 11th January 1954 white terror broke over the Walser community of Blons. Several avalanches overwhelmed 96 of the 365 inhabitants, 55 people died. 28 houses and 46 outbuildings were destroyed.
Three memorial paths and a small avalanche documentation centre with video and photo material are here today to remind us of this difficult time.
At the starting point there are comprehensive information folders with route descriptions but those wishing to learn more on the subject of avalanches should hire a guide.
