In September 2004 the biosphere park management board, in cooperation with E.C.O. consultants, applied to carry out the research project “preparation of a mission statement for research and monitoring in the Biosphere Park Grosses Walsertal “. The academy of sciences – Man and Biosphere Committee Austria – approved the project; the mission statement was prepared in the course of 2005. Three regional workshops and one expert workshop were carried out in cooperation with the Wienerwald Biosphere Park. The result of this is the research mission statement as a long-term concept for research and monitoring in the Biosphere Park Grosses Walsertal. Alongside the research concept the mission statement contains a comprehensive collection of research questions.
