The employment rate for women in the Grosses Walsertal is low in comparison to the Vorarlberg state average. Women are employed in tourism and the hotel and catering sectors or work as farmers on the high altitude farms. A directory of businesses in the Grosses Walsertal shows only a few businesses run by women.
The target group of the women’s support plan directly includes all women of working age but also indirectly includes young and retired women as sustainable and successful processes of social change must be supported by all. The principle aim is to give women the tools and the means with which they can gain a better awareness and broader understanding of their economic and social situation in order to actively and independently initiate improvements and changes in their own lives.
