The Gadental has been a nature conservation area since 1987 and was nominated as a Natura 2000 protection area in accordance with the European Fauna Flora Habitat guidelines. The management plan sets out a mutual agreement between landowners and the authorities. This has the advantage that necessary measures in the area are not defined by legal ordinances and can, if necessary, be altered or adapted as long as they do not contradict the aims of nature conservation.
