Species diversity in the Biosphere Park Grosses Walsertal - Potential for sustainable regional development
Within the framework of the butterfly monitoring programme carried out by Dr. Peter Huemer and funded by Inatura Dornbirn, a survey of the current status and evaluation of the representative butterfly populations within the Biosphere Park Grosses Walsertal is planned, as well as the development of a catalogue of measures to ensure species diversity and for the sustainable use of its potential. As a first step, representative habitats have been selected. Further steps will see a survey of the current varieties of all butterflies (diurnal and nocturnal inc. moths) using field studies in significant and typical biotypes, the evaluation of this population in a regional and transregional context and the creation of a catalogue of measures to ensure the safety of important butterfly populations. In addition recommendations for sustainable ways to exploit species diversity with reference to butterflies (management programmes, butterfly trail, advertising measures etc.) will be drawn up.
