Project leader: Regional Planning Association Grosses Walsertal
Project period: 1998
The project "Living a life worthwhile" was initiated in 1997 by the Vorarlberg State Government’s Bureau for Future Issues for various communities in Vorarlberg. In the autumn of 1998, in each of the six communities of the Grosses Walsertal, one local and one regional core team was formed.
"Living a life worthwhile" is a process of the local Agenda 21 which is primarily concerned with providing support for communities in town and country to help them to preserve their own local provision. Local provision here is a comprehensive term; it means not only the preservation of local food supplies but is far more about citizens taking the quality of life in their communities and regions into their own hands. The focus is not only on the subject itself. Quality of life understood comprehensively includes goals, visions and values and pushes the meaning and the relationships in which the people are embedded into the centre of their consciousness.
